How setup works

No typing drug names you can't spell.

Point your camera at the pharmacy label. SnapDose reads it and checks the drug against the FDA's database.

    Name, dose, how often, directions and pill count, matched to the FDA drug record.

    Every filled field says "From label" until you confirm it. Nothing you typed gets overwritten.

The photo never leaves your phone. The label is read on the device. Only the drug's NDC code is looked up in the FDA's public database.

Why it exists

Built by someone who needed it.

My dad was tracking 20 medications. My mom is doing the same, plus supplements. And I have depression. Some days getting out of bed is hard enough, let alone remembering whether I took my meds an hour ago.

I looked for an app that worked for all three of us. I couldn't find one. So I'm building it.

The short version. SnapDose stores your medication list and dose history so the app works. Only your signed-in account can read it. Label photos stay on your phone. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or show ads. You can ask us to delete everything at any time.

Who we are

SnapDose is an independent app built and run by Steven C. in Charleston, South Carolina. Questions about this policy go to [email protected].

What we collect in the app

  • Account details: your email address, and your name if you add one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
  • Medication information you enter: medication names, doses, schedules, reminder times, instructions, pill counts and refill settings.
  • Dose history: when you mark a dose taken or skipped.
  • Drug codes: if a scanned label includes an NDC code, we store that code and the matching drug details with the medication.

What we don't collect

  • Label photos. Text on the label is read on your phone using Google's on-device text recognition. The photo is not uploaded or stored by SnapDose.
  • Your location, contacts, or advertising identifiers.

How it's stored and who can see it

Your data is stored in Google Firebase, a cloud service from Google. Firebase security rules limit each record to the signed-in account that created it. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google. No other SnapDose user can see your information.

Dose reminders are scheduled on your phone itself. They don't go through our servers.

Services we use

  • Google Firebase for sign-in and data storage.
  • Google ML Kit for reading label text on your phone.
  • openFDA, the FDA's public drug database. When you scan a label, only the NDC code is sent to look up the drug name and strength. Nothing that identifies you is sent.
  • MailerLite for the email waitlist on this website, if you join it.
  • Carrd hosts this website.

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We only disclose it if required by law.

The email waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address in MailerLite to tell you about SnapDose. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

HIPAA

HIPAA applies to doctors, pharmacies, insurers and their contractors. SnapDose is a personal app you choose to use, so HIPAA generally doesn't apply to it. This policy explains what we do with your data instead.

Deleting your data

Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll delete your account and all of its data within 30 days. You can also delete individual medications in the app at any time.

Children

SnapDose is meant for adults. Children under 13 should not create accounts. A parent or guardian may track a child's medications in their own account.

Not medical advice

SnapDose is a tracking tool. It doesn't give medical advice. Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's directions and check scanned details against your label.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell waitlist members and app users before it takes effect.
